Destination Details
Hatten Wines Vineyard
The vineyards are dotted between the villages of Seririt and Sanggalangit on Bali's picturesque northern coast. The rich volcanic soils are perfect for supporting our three growth cycles per year and the cooling ocean breezes help to mediate the hot and humid climate. It is here that we run the island's most extensive viticultural research and development programme, and have conducted trials on more than 50 different international grape varieties. As well as managing our own vineyards, we work with a network of local farmers and now cultivate ten grape varieties, from Bali's own Muscat St. Vallier to noble varieties like Syrah.
Atlas South Sea Pearl Farm
For the ultimate Atlas Pearls experience, visit one of three South Sea pearl farms open to the public including North Bali, Pungu Island or Alyui Bay. Learn about the history, understand the process and meet the people behind these precious and sought-after natural gems. Complete your experience with a pearl purchase direct from the farm.
Turtle Hatchery Project
The purposes of the Reef Seen Turtle Hatchery Project are firstly, to protect the living sea turtles and secondly, to increase the chances for turtle hatchlings to reach maturity. We reward the locals who will find a newly-laid sea turtle’s nest and either bring it or we collect the eggs ourselves. By doing so, we encourage villagers not to kill or capture mature turtles, who are likely to return and lay more eggs. At the same time, turtle eggs that would otherwise have been eaten are protected and given the chance to hatch. The hatchlings are kept at Reef Seen in a holding tank, where they are fed and cared for until they are bigger and have a greater chance of survival in the open sea. According to the season, we have eggs from three different species of sea turtles – Green, Olive Ridley, and Hawksbill.
Pemuteran Beach
The Serene Pemuteran Beach and its Phenomenal Underwater Temple. With its gleaming black volcanic sandy beaches and enchanting sceneries of green hills at background, Pemuteran is a perfect illustration of Balinese philosophy on energy “Nyegara Gunung” (The fusion of energy between the mountains and the sea). You might find very little (if not to say none) entertainment in the evenings, seemingly the hotels and cottages emphasize more on tranquility so their guests can solemnly meditate or just fully retreat from the city’s rat race.
